about last year's Pow-Wow
|
Over 8,000 visitors enjoyed the 26th
Annual Comanche County Pow-Wow. Over 300 classic cars, 49 cook-off
teams, 50 exhibits for the antique tractors & engine show, over 160
booths, great Texas Country Music entertainment and hundreds of the
best volunteers in the world!
The State Championship BBQ Cook-Off
gave away cash prizes in the amount of $3,069-- more than double
last year's awards. The antique tractor and engine show boasted more
tractors than in past years, while the classic car show had
everything from cars to trucks to gold-plated bicycles and
motorcycles!
Elvis Impersonator Johnny Memphis wooed
the crowds Saturday morning, while Deryl Dodd packed 'em in Saturday
afternoon. Locals Dino Mireles and Paul Carbajal wrapped up the
entertainment to a full house on Saturday. There was fellowship in
the park led by Eastside Baptist, hosts of The Messenger and the
Church-Wide Volleyball Tournament spiked all expectations. An
impressive Texas Country Music line-up graced the Mandatory FM stage
Sunday afternoon. Tommy Alverson, Amos Staggs, Walt Wilkins, the
Matt Martindale Band and surprise guest singer/ songwriter Susan
Gibson.
A big thank you goes to the thank you
goes to Pow-Wow chairs Kyle Riley and Wade Pyburn. Eddy Parker also
co-chaired, while taking care of over 300 Classic Car Show
participants. The Comanche County Pow-Wow always relies on the team
from the City of Comanche for taking such great care of the park
before, after and year-round at the City Park. We also appreciate
the Pavilion Sponsors including Texas Bank and Oncor.
The Comanche Chamber of Commerce and
Agriculture and the Pow-Wow Council would like to thank everyone who
supported this year's event by sponsoring, participating, attending,
entertaining and volunteering at one of the most successful Comanche
County Pow-Wows in recent history!
